Fun in the Sun, Celebrating Equinox

Everything on earth depends on sun. The position of the earth decides seasons, seasons decides harvest and in turn festivals. A sunny morning wakes you up, a rainy day keeps you in. The circadian rhythm of the body decides when we wake up and sleep, again relies on the sun. Only twice a year, does the sun pass exactly over the equator. i.e.: Days and night have 12 hours each. March 21st was one such day where science enthusiasts gathered at the "Pilikula Regional Science Centre"

"In a equinox, day and night share the same time period"

Finding True North and other Activities

Clear image of the sun and it's sunspots could be observed with the aid of a telescope.

The next time we would witness an equinox would be in September 23rd. The science community will be looking forward to celebrate such events and learn more about the universe. Happy learning!!!
